Hello! I haven't advertised in yonks, but I wanted to signal-boost for a friend: if you like Dragon Age, c'mon over and check out codexmods for an original character game set in Nevarra during the Third Blight, long before the events of DA:O. It's a small and leisurely-paced but motivated game, and especially logging-friendly. We've got a good little group rn but could do with a bit more fresh blood (ha, ha). ♥

A blight upon the land. Darkspawn have risen and the archdemon brings plague and death wherever he lands. The year is 3:24 Towers. For fourteen years, the third Blight has ravaged Thedas while Tevinter and Orlais war with each other. They have provided aid to Nevarra, a country desperately fighting to keep the Blight from consuming them. But their help comes with a price, and it seems as though Nevarra is doomed to fall, either to the Blight or to the ambitions of their more powerful neighbors.

LOST CODICES is an original character roleplaying game set in the Dragon Age universe during the third Blight in the port city of Cumberland. No knowledge of the Dragon Age universe is needed. We offer your typical slice of life and an over-arching plot, complete with a healthy dose of politics and saving the world from the archdemon Toth. Come and shape the future of Nevarra or become the hero that stops the Blight.

So it's that time of year again, in which I get out the advertising drum & pimp out my main game. If you like original urban paranormal RPGs, super-high creativity, and a laidback pace (many of us are the forgiving 'write on weekends' sort), then I highly encourage you to check Gates out:

I am contractually obligated to advertise the games I moderate. Also, it's been precisely 1 year and 2 weeks since I last pimped, so I should be allowed to do this! The actual ads give the public schpiel, but consider these my honest and informal endorsements:

Neopolis Academy → neopolis
See: advertisement/full premise. Neopolis Academy is a school-based game with original superheroes and supervillains, set in the universe of Dr. Horrible's Singalong Blog. This game is our brainchild; everyone's world-building as we go, and it's a complete blast. High standards of writing and originality apply, and we keep churning out mini-plots (and sometimes mega-plots) to keep things rolling.

We've been running strong since February with no need to advertise, but our player population has been stable for a while, so we could do with some fresh blood! It's a strong time investment, since it's such a large game, but if you're into a colourful and vibrant atmosphere with lots of potential for creativity, come on in and take a look! After all, we have superheroes and zombies and werebears.

Crossover → xovermods

Crossover is an original-character game structured around the concept of reincarnated comic book characters: that is, everyday normal people attaining the memories (and sometimes abilities!) of various fictional characters. After various disasters (notably, some villainous activity and earthquakes earlier in 2009), the community is starting to cohere again under the subtle guidance of a shadowy corporation called Orbis.

The game has existed since October 2008, but took a hiatus for a couple months. We've been back in action since June, though, and could do with more characters of any flavour! ...but I would sell some small children for some really good string-pulling villains (Magneto? Hush? R'as Al Ghul?).
